Strengthening University Leadership and Management through Sustainable Approaches

About the training:

This NMT training equipped emerging leaders within Kenyan universities with strategic leadership and management skills to ensure prudent project implementation and sustainability of their institutions. This is informed by the fact that Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Kenya are currently facing economic hardships and inadequate resources, which affects the effective accomplishment of their mandate.

Expected learning outcomes:

By the end of the training, participants should be able to:

• Design and implement change projects in their home institutions,
• Apply appropriate leadership and management skills in their roles for sustainable outcomes,
• Use digital transformation skills to enhance graduate employability in various sectors,
• Foster local and international university-industry linkages for effective student career mentorship and coaching.

Target group:

The project targeted middle-level higher education managers from both academic and administrative units in Kenyan Universities, namely individuals appointed to university management positions for no more than five (5) years in units such as academic, internationalisation, planning, quality management, library, human resources, internship coordinators, ODeL, timetabling, and chairs of departments (CoDs), among others.
